Strangely, headlines on Medium do follow trends. Back then, ‘How to’ ruled the day. Slowly, it evolved into ‘How I’d’. And then super short headlines stole the limelight.
Like ‘Keep Writing’.
Or ‘Pre-Diabetes Kicked My Sorry Arse’.
Recently, a new style of headlines [or headlines structure] has emerged as the frontrunner of all killer headlines.
High engagement is [almost] guaranteed.
Are you ready to steal it, use it, and pepper it across [all] your work?
Haha, I bet.
The keyword is ‘Leave’
I will share what I observed before sharing what I think.
‘Leave’ has emerged as the killer evocative word in our headlines.
Examples include,
- ‘The Best Thing Happened to Me When I Leave My Spouse of ‘X’ Years’
- ‘Why I Decided to Leave America for _____ [insert exotic country]’
- ‘Why I Choose to Leave My High Paying 9–6’
